Sorry, I’m a day late. I couldn’t stay awake last night to post…

Abba,
The night lingers on as your stars
Kiss the loneliness of the dark sky.
Their light cascading softly down
The hills and crevasses around.
The breeze makes sand and leaves dance;
Your beauty; my spirit desires to fly.

Abba,
As I take in all of this beauty –
Breathing the glow of Passover moon –
I must confess my heart is heavy,
Is this your presence, a broken levee?
This can’t be the Messiah,
Or can it be…is it too soon?

Abba,
Looking upon the beauty in the sky,
Tears well up; Abraham gazed these stars!
I was so hard on my son, but then I heard!
He loves this man! But I hung on every word!
He cleared out the Temple’s foolery;
His power and passion! Can he mend our scars?

Abba,
Over yonder, is that him around the fire,
Investing in his uncouth band of brothers?
How does he speak to you? Is he the one Father?
I’m riddled with doubts; my soul continues to bother!
I want to side with the rules who oppose;
Aha – his words my doubts smother!

Abba,
Is this the answer?! The sun rising,
I can see my faults – kyrie eleison!
The golden rays envelope my frame,
Is this how history will say you came?
I don’t know … … … much anything today,
But I believe, this Yeshua is your son!
Continued blessings on this Holy Week. See Luke 19.45-48 for context.

Ooooh I love how you’ve used the word “ABBA” here. Great post!
Thanks Suchie! Was it better with more pictures? The pictures looked blurry though. Did they look blurry to you?
No, and I’m on my phone – they seem fine.
Hey there! I thought you liked this post. Having second thoughts are we?! 🙂
Have a wonderful day – I think it’s day were you’re at … ?
It’s 9:20 AM, yes. No second thoughts, come on.
I’m just saying, I don’t see it so…
By the way…

Cool.
The Priest Brennan Manning, who passed away in 2013, wrote several books and referred to Abba quite often. I have read most of his books. I’m not a religious person myself but found the usage of Abba to be quite endearing when describing God as more of a loving presence rather than one of judgment and fury.
Love this poem! Beautifully written.
Thank you for your response.
I have not had the pleasure of reading any Manning. I should put him on my list – assuming I will actually be able to read consistently again one day.
I think this perspective is helpful and accurate. Although God’s wrath is certainly real and nothing to trifle with, thankfully for us he is very slow to it. He is unbelievably loving, compassionate and in pursuit of us. He is certainly good!
I am glad you liked it. Thanks for the feedback. And, if you see opportunities of growth, please feel free to critique! I am hoping to get better.
